Received a donation of two fantastic crates this week and placed them in one of my feral colonies today. I placed some hay inside but didn't have enough, so I am hoping tomorrow I can stop by and purchase a new bale of it. Was happy I did at least have some left though even if it is not packed tight as it is like 24 degrees outside right now. I feel so bad for the cats this time of year, although I try hard to make sure they have some sort of protection, I know it may still not be enough. Every year I say I am going to order a few of those microwavable discs for them but funds never allow it.
I have three new adult cats in my older colony. A big beautiful gray and white, a tiger stripe and a orange and white. I can tell they are not fixed even though I have only seen them from about 30 feet away. They always square off to fight when I pull in, over the food I am sure. My other ferals don't do that. They are always rubbing on trees or rolling on the ground after running to greet me. As soon as the weather breaks I will trap them and get then to FCNMHPS to be fixed. Right now they seem to stay a distance from my feeding shelter and the other ferals and are congregating on the other end of the wooded lot, where I use to have another feeding shelter at. So now I am tracking thru the woods to where they are at and feeding them apart from the others. That is where I placed the crates today. I am hoping they are in them right now, all curled up and (hopefully) warm.
